Redwood blocks for carving are usually from old growth Redwood trees,
being cut from the tops of old stumps which were logged up to 150 years ago.
Truckloads of redwood blocks will vary in weight from 46,000 to 50,000
pounds. This carving wood is sold by the piece or by the truckload,
and the chunks of wood normally have few cracks or rot. |
